One of our fourth grade power standards involves finding themes with fourth grade text. It is important to note that "topics" and "themes" are not the same things. Themes really deal with what the author wants us to learn from the particular text. Topics are more broad, universal classifications of what the text is about. Using a variety of media, including lyric videos, picture books, and discussion with our interactive read aloud, students will be able to identify theme with grade level text. |
